Raquel Torrecilla joins NEWART Centre to develop its educational project and strengthen cultural mediation

The new head will lead the design of educational programs with a STEAM approach and the connection with the educational fabric of the territory

NEWART Centre in Reus has recently welcomed Raquel Torrecilla as its new cultural manager and head of educational projects. She will design and lead the centre’s educational programme and strengthen its connections with schools, training centres and cultural organisations.

Torrecilla assumes the coordination of educational activities, the management of visits and reservations, as well as the development of pedagogical proposals based on a STEAM approach (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics), aligned with the interdisciplinary nature of the NEWART Centre.

Trained as an arts teacher and with a master’s degree in visual arts and education, she is currently studying for a postgraduate qualification in international cultural management and cooperation, bringing a global and contemporary perspective to the centre’s educational projects.

Her career includes notable international experience, such as her work in the education department of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, as well as mediation and education roles in several museums. She has also worked with the National Council for Culture and the Arts, building a strong profile in cultural and educational management.

With this incorporation, the NEWART Centre takes a step further in its commitment to education as a strategic axis. Raquel Torrecilla begins this new stage in Reus with the will to promote cultural projects with local impact and reinforce the role of the center as a reference space in digital art and innovation.

The new manager is committed to artistic education as a tool for social transformation and will work to develop innovative initiatives that connect the local context with the international scene, thus contributing to the growth and projection of the NEWART Centre.
