About the artwork
Agism uses the act of firing and the fragility of a paintball as a performative declaration. Its impact against a wall becomes a reflection on desire, defeat, commodification and asymmetries of power within the art system. The piece forms part of a research and production programme organised by Hangar with NEWART Foundation and the BEEP collection. Acknowledgements: TMTMTM and Intra Automation.
Artistic career: Patricio Rivera
Career and projects
Patricio Rivera studied art direction and photography and completed an MBA at Universidad del Salvador and the University of Deusto. He taught photography at the University of Palermo and was an artist in residence at Hangar from 2016 to 2018. His work incorporates programming, mechatronics, robotics and digital fabrication, preferably under open licences. He co-founded Fase, a centre for contemporary art research and production in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, and the technological experimentation collective TMTMTM.
