Representatives of NEWART Foundation in Reus appeared before the Culture Committee of the Parliament of Catalonia on Wednesday 6 May to present the NEWART Centre project in Reus, a centre dedicated to digital art and the intersection of art, science and technology.

The delegation was led by Andreu Rodríguez, president of NEWART Foundation’s Board of Trustees, who presented the centre’s objectives and strategic priorities, as well as its role as a leading space for the creation, research and dissemination of contemporary art involving new technologies.

The presentation highlighted the project’s main areas of activity: exhibition programming, artistic production, digital art conservation and documentation, education and participation in European projects. It also emphasised the centre’s aim to generate cultural and social impact in the region and establish a presence within international digital art circuits.

Likewise, the representatives have stressed the importance of digital art as an engine of cultural innovation and have defended the need to strengthen this area within cultural policies, promoting initiatives that connect artistic creation with scientific and technological research.

The appearance has served to publicize the project of the NEWART Centre at the institutional level and reinforce its position as a strategic initiative in the development of contemporary culture in Catalonia.
