Viva el Paro, 1998

About the artwork

Viva el Paro was created for Pinturas Paranormales at Doble Espacio in Madrid in 1998. Presented as a lightbox, it questions the economics of art multiples and the relationship between manual production, reproduction and price. The collective incorporated tools such as Animator Pro and Virtual Home Space Builder into what it called Advanced Painting: painting expanded through animation, virtual worlds and digital resources. In a context of unemployment, its response was to keep creating.

The work also marked the beginning of the group’s first website. On deposit from LaAgencia.
