Free Forever
Free Forever is a collection of pop-inspired Spanish artists founded in 1989, format by Beatriz Alegre, Almudena Baeza, Alberto Cortés, Juan Jarén, Miguel Ángel Martín, Álvaro Monge, Ana Parga and Mª Luz Ruiz.
The seventh first exhibition will take place in 1990 at the Sala Estrujenbank, associated with the collection of mateix nom. This experience will establish a lasting professional and personal relationship between the two groups.
In the initial phase, the group will remain anonymous and will use various names for its projects (such as Arigato Obrigado, La Rubia, G.A., Agradezco Esta Opportunidad, Artistas Todos, etc.). These are the only things that can be seen at each exhibition. In the next phase, when they move to electronic art and begin to relate to the Internet, they adopt the permanent name Libres Para Siempre.
They have exhibited both in commercial galleries (Fúcares, Almagro, 1991; Buades, 1992; DoblEspacio, 1998; Valle Quintana, 2000) and in espais alternatius (The Atomic Eye, Sala Cruce). They have also participated in fires (ARCO 1992, ARCO 1996, ARCO 2001), performance festivals (IIFIARP, 1992; Performance Festival of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Cuenca, 1998; Cha Cha Chá, 1999; Come and See the CCCB, 1999; Domestic 2000; Performance Festival of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Madrid, i Los Lunes de La Fábrica, 2002), and electronic art festivals (Art Futura, 1997; Exhausted Existences, 1999).
The collective has produced recordings and videos, has published the book Arte en las Redes (Anaya Multimedia, 1997) and has organized a contests online during the Observatori 2000 festival.
The website, librepara siempre.net, serves as a platform for open calls for newspapers (e.g., Devorolor, the templates that devour the smell. El Templatezo, 2003) and with a gallery of the six works of digital art, with the alphabet il·lustrat ¡Libres, 2003.
On February 2013, an exhibition will connect the group with a neopop movement that will begin with Luis Gordillo, will continue through the New Madrid Figuration and his successors (including Jaime Aledo, Elena Blasco), followed by Juan Ugalde, Patricia Gadea and Estrujenbank, and will culminate with the Libres materials Forever.
The latest work of electronic art Composite will be acquired by MEIAC (Extremeño and Ibero-American Museum of Contemporary Art). The Museo del Barro d’Asunción (Paraguai) includes works from the Spanish contemporary graphics collection.
Totally I work in a wide window of expressive mitjans (painting, photography, performance, digital animation, video, virtual reality and Net Art), Libres Para Siempre maintained a formal coherence and symbolic. Això is reflected in the recurrent use of characters, scenes and a playful domestic irreverence present in all of his work.
Viva el Paro, 1998. Lum box, 90 x 120 cm.
This work will be created by the Libres Para Siempre (LPS) collection for the Paranormal Paintings exhibition, held at the Doble Espacio gallery in Madrid in 1998.
Doble Espacio was a gallery dedicated to multiple art, which included this work of art in its digital catalog along with other works, such as paintings that They are offered at multiple art prices, that is to say, affordable prices. In this context, the collective will express the following:
¨The collective offers cheaper original works than multiples because manual production costs less than mechanical production. In the end, the group finances the six reproducible works through the non-reproducible ones, thus losing the value of the fact that they invest the singular works for me. This honesty with the buyer exposes the hypocritical position of the alternative art market of multiple works, which offers cheaper works of art, always at the expense of the artist, who is usually the one who finances the multiple works, while making the public believe that the lowest cost of the work is in the fet that did not follow unique.
The multiple art produced by Libres Para Siempre will always reflect the technological moment that is the group’s signature. This practice will be driven by an avant-garde concern to connect art with the technological models of each era. This approach will be called by the group as advanced versions of painting, which will be called Advanced Painting.
This way to Advanced Painting is during the term using various programs. One of them was Animator Pro, an animation program released in 1989 by Autodesk under the license of the Yost Group, created by Peter Kennard, Gary Yost and Jim Ken. This program, which works in MSDOS with a palette of 256 colors and the native formats of which are FLI or FLC, is used in 1995 to create electronic works that the community will transfer to the Pandora program, by Simon Birrel. Pandora is going to create a digital museum, an il·lusori space where these works are exhibited in a conventional way.
In 1996, during the Ciberchic exhibition (a Cruce), photographs of computer screens will be presented together with animations created with Animator Pro and virtual mons designed with the Russian Virtual Home Space Builder program (VHSB). During this exhibition, the studio will be moved to the room, some videos will be edited, allowing the public to interact with the artists and observe their method of work.
A There is no one (Art Futura, 1997), the plastic panels printed by mechanical injection are juxtaposed in the surroundings of Virtual reality creates a Virtual Home Space Builder (VHSB). This program will allow you to design domestic spaces in 3D in order to integrate into the emerging world, combining text, digital images, animations, digital video, and hyperlinks. Furthermore, with a quick rendering, it is possible to visualize these creations in real time.
The work Viva el paro, presented in a light box, uses all the digital resources acquired by the group. It comes at a time of crisis in Spanish society, but, given the brutal nature, the best response of the community is to continue creating art. From here you see the motto: LONG LIVE UNEMPLOYMENT! HIP HIP HOORAY LONG LIVE UNEMPLOYMENT!
Amb Long live the unemployment, the collective is going to begin to develop the new first web page. Avui, your digital space is: www.libresparaSiempre.net
