Reus, December 17, 2025The jury of the Reddis Grant - NEWART Foundation, in collaboration with Eufònic, supports artistic production and research at the intersection of art, science and technology. It has awarded the prize to ORIOL PARÉS for his project ESGUARD. The grant provides €6,000 from Fundació Privada Reddis.
In this edition, 28 high-level and diverse projects from all over Catalonia have been presented, which shows the good health of the Catalan ecosystem at the confluence between art, science and technology. Reddis - NEWART Foundation - Eufònic sincerely appreciate the dedication of all the artists and all the participating artists.
ESGUARD is a kinetic installation comprising robotic manipulators that hold fragments of mirrors and move slowly. Each unit tilts, rotates and raises its mirror, creating a geometry of reflections that fragments reality and recomposes it in real time. The work does not “show” a space: it reveals it. The project begins with a simple intuition: today we see without looking. ESGUARD turns this paradox into an invitation to reclaim looking as a conscious gesture, in the tension between urban space and nature, mediated by technological devices.
The piece also incorporates a sound dimension arising from its own material —the hum of servomotors, the minimal friction of the axes and the micro-polyrhythms of the choreographed movement— creating an emergent acoustic landscape and making audible an infrastructure usually relegated to the background. Production will take place in the workshops of NEWART Centre through a "spiral" methodology, based on prototyping, testing and refining, and will include audiovisual documentation, Open Studio sessions and activities. The project should be completed on June 15, 2026.
The public presentation of the project is planned within the framework of the Eufònic festival (July 2026), in a location in the territory of the Terres de l'Ebre, taking advantage of light, architecture and context for a site-specific experience.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Reddis Private Foundation, Lluís Colomés, of the president of the NEWART FoundationAndreu Rodríguez Valveny, the director of the NAF Vicente Matallana and the head of production Eufònic FestivalJordi Brunet
