Barcelona, 1979
Anna Carreras explores generative art and creative coding. Through algorithms and interactive installations, she investigates how simple rules can generate complex images. Audiences participate in experiences shaped by variation and unexpected outcomes.

Llum a les desigualtats
About the artwork
Llum a les desigualtats (2020), created with Òmnium Cultural, turns a handmade map of lights into a visual narrative about gender violence, ecology and migration. Animation and irregularly positioned lights transform information into a poetic experience.

Impuls i traçat 2
About the artwork
Impuls i traçat 2 belongs to Carreras’s exploration of code, geometry and colour. The project Impuls i traçat, documented by the artist in 2025, explores generative language. In the installation presented at REDESSA, algorithms produce continually changing compositions: the image develops as an ongoing process rather than repeating a fixed sequence.
Anna Carreras: artistic career
Art, code and experimentation
With degrees in Engineering from UPC and Audiovisual Technologies from UPF, she combines her artistic practice with teaching creative coding.
She has presented projects at CosmoCaixa, Llum Barcelona, Sónar and MIRA, and worked in contexts including Medialab Prado. In 2022, her solo exhibition De hormigueros y algoritmos at Ana Mas Projects explored her research into generative art.
