A Kawara Time Machine, 2011
It is an ongoing Internet project. A javascript counter automates the time-based works of On Kawara from the beginning of the “Date Paintings” on January 4, 1966, to the actual date checked on the operating system clock.
The CSS code takes on the appearance of the paintings, using a bold white Futura typeface on a black background. The project will be completed on the date of On Kawara’s death, including a new variable in the code; the counter will count from the origin of the “Date Paintings” to the date of his death.
